In some parentsĄŻ opinion,the main use of colored pens and pencils for children is nothing more than random painting and writing. so, it is meaningless to use the superior qualities.Actually,such conduct do harm highly to the children.The reasons read as follows:
First,physically,children are inferior to adults ,but also on resistance and immunity.Besides,owing to be naughty inherently,they are possible to put the pens or pencils into their mouth,and even draw on their own face or tongue.But for getting the maximum profits, some manufacturers do not comply with the national standard ,cause that the proportion of lead ,manganese ,chromium go beyond terribly the standard requirements , so that some users suffer the anorexia , be captious on food ,off color,and scatterbrained,what is the worse is poisoning ,though its prices are much lower than the standard.
Secondly,on point of view of designs of production ,especially the knocked-downable,the cap of a pen is possibly swallowed during the children putting it into mouth.Presently,some manufacturer of pens ,especially joy colored pens ,usually reduce production process to save costs.As result ,the cap of pens is designed too short or the stopple on the other end is unfixed and easy to be drew and swallowed with absence of guardian.According to ASTM D4236,designs of production should take the safety of children into the first consideration ,the cap of pens should be long enogh and have venthole (so that children could breath freely avoiding choke once swallow.),the stopple on the other end should endure a pull of 80N.
Third, the standard of raw material and technique of product are deciding whether this product is useful for environment and wastage in using. Unnecessary wastage is appeared when we use pencils, it is due to the twopenny and lower quality raw material are used by some manufacturer. For example: break off lead, chroma of color is not enough, big rigidity lacerate the paper once writing, break off wood and unsharpened once sharpening and so onĄ, all of these make a big encumbrance when we are using pencils. Ink of fiber pens don`t arrive the standard, leak and volatiliazation appeared in some fiber pens, due to some manufacturer try to make lower cost so as to pursue more profit. Actually, ASTM D4236 required that the ink of fiber pens must arrive 0.15g, and the deadline of use must be 2 year. But now, a lot of fiber pen not arrive 0.08g, and the deadline of use is 1 year. Customers are cheated again.
Children are the future of family and homeland, it is duty to take care of children for every family and society, so when we buy pencils for our children, we must be rational. |
